Roof Repairs to pre 1990 Buildings

The Northampton Guildhall reflects the height of Victorian civic grandeur. It is designed in an Italian Gothic style in 1859 by architect E W Godwin. It was extended further by Michael Holding in 1889-1892. Behind the impressive main facade is a complex arrangement of roof slopes, narrow valley gutters, patent glazing, lantern roof lights and the high level stained glass of the Guildhall Great Hall. Some of roof areas were only accessible from a third party car park. SWB was commissioned to carry out a survey report on each of the 36 individual structures each with a minimum of two roof slopes and some with up to five roof slopes.  Repairs were carried out to slate roofs, lead valley gutters and lead flat roofs. In addition significant repairs were carried out to timber framed lantern roof lights including patent glazing replacement.  Repairs were also carried out to the Great Hall clerestory stained glass and access improvements between intersection roof slopes were also carried out
