About Us

Stimpson Walton Bond (SWB) began in 1964 and continues under Adrian Ringrose who is a Chartered Architect, RIBA member, Architect Accredited in Conservation (AABC) and Managing Director. The firm has a team of 5 people working on a diverse and interesting range of projects. The broad portfolio of buildings include Historic, Religious, Community, Education, Healthcare, Sport, Residential, Housing, a Hotel and special design projects. The firm also acts in the role as Principal Designer under the 2015 CDM Regulations. The value of the works undertaken varies from as little as a few hundred pounds of historic repair to larger £million projects including feasibility studies and master planning. SWB primarily acts in the role as Lead Consultant but also collaborates with Project Managers to deliver the architectural discipline. Approximately 75%+ of the design projects go from the feasibility stage to the construction stage under SWB’s direction as Architect and Contract Administrator. The Client base is primarily in Northamptonshire but projects have been successfully undertaken in Cambridgeshire, The Cotswolds, Leicester, London, Oxford, Birmingham, Peterborough, Mansfield, Derby, Essex and Cardiff.

Two of Northampton’s most significant landmarks, the Express Lift Tower in 1974 and the Guildhall extension in 1993, were designed by SWB. Within the office there is always a good balance of historic, modern and contemporary projects all of which inform each other and promote good professional discipline which is why SWB is in its 60th year.

SWB has considerable experience in preparing condition reports on listed buildings including repairs, conservation, adaptations and extensions. Some notable buildings include works to Sulgrave Manor, Delapre Abbey, Abington Museum, Rockingham Castle, Northampton Guildhall and other buildings many of which are Grade I – II* listed. This scope includes the care of almost 200 churches across the Diocese of Peterborough, Oxford and St Albans including the Northampton and Milton Keynes Methodist Circuit.
