Delapre Abbey, Northampton

SWB was employed by Northampton Borough Council to carry out two surveys to record the condition of the historic fabric.  The first report recorded the condition of over 80 roof slopes and the  supporting structure.  The report prioritised the necessary repairs. The second report recorded the condition of the internal and external historic fabric of the Main Abbey, Billiard Room, Coach House, Stable Block and Stableyard buildings.

Both reports formed the basis of the successful Heritage Lottering funded works to refurbish the Abbey.

Other works at the Abbey have included:

• Coach House re-roofing and refurbishment of the Coach House and cupola
• Securing planning permission and listed building consent for an extend overflow car park
• Securing planning permission and listed building consent for an extended security system and external lighting
• Securing planning permission and listed building consent for the demolitions of redundant structures attached to the Abbey building
• Resolving troubleshooting issues after the completion of refurbishment works by others
