New 6 Form at Wellingborough School 

Wellingborough School is a co-educational day independent school in the market town of Wellingborough in Northamptonshire. It was established in 1595 and is one of the oldest schools in the country. It has a reputation for academic excellence along with a sense of tradition both in terms of the history of the school and day to day operation.

The school had no dedicated area for sixth form students. This proposal was for the development of a dedicated facility for the sixth form student body. The facility was to act as a flexible study area for sixth form students to complement the existing house facilities together with an office for the head of the sixth form. The design and layout allowed sixth formers to congregate with a strong sense of identity as a student body as required in the Client brief.

The facility was located over the flat roof of the existing Refectory area and utilised the existing framed structure. The facility was designed as an academic environment which would foster a sense of independence in terms of the students approach to learning, whilst allowing the sixth form body to develop a greater sense of identity.
