Redevelopment for new 60 bed hotel

The site is located at 21-23 Bridge Street which was once the former Angel Hotel and is a Grade II listed building. The original building was one of Northampton’s Ancient Inns dating back to 1585 before being destroyed in the great fire of Northampton in 1675. The site has been developed through the centuries. Due to a fire in 2012 the majority of the structure directly behind the Bridge Street façade was gutted resulting in the Bridge Street elevation needing structural scaffolding to prevent collapse.

This proposal involved the retention of Bridge Street elevation, the demolition of the remaining site and a redevelopment to create a hotel over part of the ground floor and across the three upper floors. Other ground floor areas will accommodate a mixture of uses including small retail shops and a bistro. The hotel will be 4* and accommodate 60 ensuite bedrooms and associated facilities. Planning permission and Listed Building consent was granted in September 2019.
